Greetings for Laser Worlds

On behalf of the Hungarian Laser Class Association it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the Groupama – OTP Balaton Laser Worlds 2013 championships – competitors, coaches, team leaders, spectators, supporters and sailing fans.

It was a great pleasure when the International Laser Class Association announced our country to be the hosts of such an important laser sailing event in 2013 in Balatonfüred. The Balaton Laser Worlds will consist of three events for the three different Laser classes, mainly for young sailors. This makes our association very proud as laser sailing became 20 years old this year and we are very happy that we can celebrate this anniverisary with such a big event.

The elite of this class, nearly 400 men and more than 200 women, from over 50 different nations are expected to compete in Balatonfüred, which is on the beautiful northern coast of our Lake, so we are looking forward to an exciting event.

I hope you enjoy your stay in Lake Balaton, the sailing, and the hospitality. We are certain that you will find sailing fun, but challenging. Expect classic, summer lake sailing conditions, so almost anything is possible. The Worlds can be challenging, but the satisfaction of competing at this level is well worth the extra effort you have made to participate. I hope that you will enjoy the competition and the camaraderie. Perhaps you might even get “hooked” and come sail with us next year as well.

We are excited to host what promises to be a great event for all. If we can do anything to make your stay with us more comfortable please reach me or any of the staff of volunteers. It will be our pleasure to assist you.
